Management and Economics of Cultural and Natural Heritage

Projet Patrimoine

Back in 1998, the European Union and the Algerian authorities signed an agreement to preserve and develop Algeria’s great cultural heritage. Today, this trans-Mediterranean cooperation continues with the ‘Programme d’appui au secteur de la protection et valorisation du patrimoine culturel en Algérie’ (Assistance to the heritage sector and the valorisation of cultural heritage in Algeria), with GAIA-heritage being a leading member of the programme’s support unit.

Together with other partners, GAIA will provide experts that will assure the training and reinforcing of the capacities of local actors, and assess and develop the methodology and inventory capacities. The Support Unit will also help local heritage experts in 12 Wilayas of the countries to create a strategy for heritage valorisation.
