The Mediterranean Cultural Network to Promote Creativity in the Arts, Crafts and Design for Communities’ Regeneration in Historic Cities (“MEDNETA project”) aims at raising the competitiveness of contemporary creative artists, craftsmen and designers (ACDs) to turn them into leading economic actors in historic urban districts, promoting a cross-border cultural dialogue among multiple stakeholders and supporting the communities and web of economic activities which form the urban and social setting of historical cities.

Since the summer 2014, GAIA has been undertaking the following activities in Mar Mikhael, Beirut:

1. Carry out data collection of the neighbourhood and survey local ACDs, as well as preliminary data analysis

2. Organise local stakeholders in order to contribute to the formulation of a Joint Integrated Strategy through workshops and interviews

3. Organise the first rotating exhibition dedicated to the promotion of Mediterranean ACDs and their pilot products
