Assessment of The SCTA’s partnership approach

The World Bank sought the expertise of GAIA-heritage to assess the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities’ experience in adopting the “partnership” approach to develop national tourism in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As an advisor, GAIA-heritage undertook three missions to Saudi Arabia in order to determine potential leeways and scopes for improvement in the management of the partnerships.

The final report essentially provides methodological recommendations to increase the efficiency of the Public Private and Public Public partnerships (the Commission’s goals) while maintaining and preserving the region’s valuable heritage. Such analysis is based on a comparative approach between different national and international best practices, together with an in-depth study of the local situation to propose globally-inspired yet context-specific solutions.
