Management and Economics of Cultural and Natural Heritage

Interactive Discovery

The Omani heritage, both tangible and intangible, is one of the greatest of the Arab World. However, not everyone can access and/or afford to visit the original sites or museums dedicated to their preservation, therefore reducing cultural visibility and awareness. For that reason, Gaia-Heritage and Mago Production have completed the production of three interactive DVDs on both the Sites and Museum of Frankincense.

The first one takes the visitor through the museum’s History Hall for an overview of the country’s history while the second, taking place in the Maritime Hall, focuses on the Omani maritime genius. From now on, a third DVD enables anyone living on the other side of the globe to virtually visit the World Heritage Sites of Frankincense: viewers can wander in the Medieval and Ancient harbour cities of Al Baleed and Khor Rori, discover the lost oasis of Shisr (Wubar), or get a glimpse of Wadi Dokah where grows the Frankincense tree (Boswelia Sacra).
