AfterShock: Conflict Violence and Resolution

On The 17th and t8th of July 2007, Georges Zouain participated in the international conference “AfterShock: Conflict Violence and Resolution” organized by the Sainsbury Center for Visual Arts. The discussion group explored the images of political and social violence that confront us every day, placing them within wider frames of reference both in the arts and in politics.  It examined some of the complexities of the local impact of global stories, exploring issues of trauma, the wider politics of peace, and considering the role of culture in providing alternative reflections. The seminar was accompanied by an exhibition including the work of 17 international artists from India, Colombia, Chile, Ireland, Argentina, Lebanon, Germany and the UK.
